Short Grain Brown Rice
Short grain brown rice is a nutritious, whole-grain staple with a soft, chewy, and slightly sticky texture when cooked, making it ideal for sushi, risotto, or rice bowls. It can be made quickly in an Instant Pot, a rice cooker, or on the stove.
Method 1: Instant Pot
- Rinse 1 cup short grain brown rice to remove excess starch.
- Combine with 1 to 1 1/4 cups water in an Instant Pot.
- Pressure cook for 20 minutes.
- Allow Instant Pot to release pressure naturally (about 10 minutes).
- Fluff with a fork and serve.
Method 2: Stovetop
- Rinse 1 cup short grain brown rice to remove excess starch.
- Combine rice with 2 cups water in a saucepan.
- Bring to boil, then cover and reduce heat to low and simmer for 40-45 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let it sit for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Keep the same water-to-rice proportions when making larger batches.
