Rolled Multi-Grain Cereal
If you like rolled oats, then you must try a rolled multi-grain cereal with its increased nuttiness and enhanced nutritional profile. We purchase a Rolled 9 Grain Flakes cereal from Azure Standard. Here is their description for this product:
A multi-grain alternative to traditional oatmeal, Azure Market rolled 9 grain flakes are made with red wheat, soft and hard white wheat, oats, triticale, rye, barley, spelt, and flax. These ancient grains are full of nutrients, including protein, fiber, B vitamins, and minerals like calcium, potassium, phosphorus, iron, and zinc.
Sound good to you? Us to! It has become our morning favorite.
Click here to learn more and, if you like, purchase some of this amazing cereal—which, by the way, is very inexpensive. The Azure Market product costs only $0.70 per pound, or about $0.15 per 1-cup dry serving—which provides 14g of protein, 10g of dietary fiber, and 4-5 hours of lasting satisfaction.
If you are unable to purchase from Azure Standard, you may be able to find something similar (like a 7-grain or 5-grain cereal) at a store that sells bulk foods (like Winco). Unfortunately, rolled multi-grain cereals purchased from other online retailers (like Amazon or Walmart) are quite expensive (minimum $6 per pound).
Instructions
- In an Instant Pot, add 1 1/4 cups water for each cup of rolled 9-grain cereal.
- Add cinnamon (an amount appropriate for the amount of cereal).
- Add fruit. (Or you may add fruit after it cooks. It depends on how hot and soft you want the fruit to be).
- Add walnuts or other kind of nuts (optional and can be added before or after the cereal cooks).
- Stir everything together and pressure cook for 2 minutes.
- Serve and add whatever toppings you think would be good, including a bit of sweetener (like maple syrup or raw turbinado sugar). We like to put a small amount on top rather than mix it in. This way use less and taste it more.
- Add a bit of your favorite plant-based milk (perhaps 1/2 cup).
As you see, we are not talking about an exact recipe! Experiment. See what works for your preferences. See if you can come up with a personalized concoction that meets your taste and texture preferences.
