Add rinsed beans to the Instant Pot. In general, a good ratio of water to beans is 2 ½ cups of water per 1 cup of dry beans. If the beans are soaked, you can use 2 cups of water to 1 cup of soaked beans.
Cook beans to desired firmness: 20-25 for black beans; 35-40 minutes for pinto beans; 40-45 minutes for chickpeas. Check the internet to find cook times for other types of beans.
Method 2: Stovetop
Add rinsed beans to the pot and cover with about 2 inches of water.
Bring to a boil then reduce to a simmer. Dry beans will take 2+ hours. Soaked beans will take about 1 3/4 hours.
Check during cooking time to make sure there is adequate water.
Method 3: Slow Cooker
Add rinsed beans to the slow cooker with enough water to cover with about 2 inches of water.
Cook on low. They will take between three and six hours.
